I can play them when I'm dead
Despite moving house and all the work that entails, I still find enough time to buy more video games, but not play them, as is tradition.
It's been a busy month in the Moobs household. We moved house, and that meant packing up everything we've acquired over the last 10 years and moving it into storage for another decade before we decide we don't actually need to keep it. While Mrs Moobs has been busy buying new appliances that suit the new home (despite white-ware looking the same no matter what year it was bought), I've been taking care of the little jobs like installing carpets, painting bedrooms, cleaning spilt paint off of new carpets...
I also managed to install a new wireless mesh network. I stuck with Ubiquiti because it's been solid for the last few years. I did replace all of the access points with Unifi U6+ APs for faster WiFi, but I'm not sure that was a good idea, as the Internet still thinks it's 2004 and barely reaches 20Mbps.
I also bought and built myself a new gaming PC. The old Ryzen 5 3600 was promoted to serve our 16-year-old's Roblox fixation (moving house does weird things to teenagers). I didn't go overboard; I just had a modern i5 processor, and I stuck with the GTX 3060 because it's more than good enough for modern games. My most extravagant purchase was a Corsair RGB CPU water cooler. The whole PC is RGB'd to the rim because that's what PC gaming is all about now. Flashy lights and things!
As for the games, Forza Horizon 4 has been my jam lately. It's just an easy play with a chill soundtrack. That is exactly what I need to unwind during this busy period. Young Master Moobs has encouraged me to go back and complete God of War: Kratos' Does Dad Stuff. He got the new Ragnarok game on Steam for his birthday. I have to admit, the games look great. But I struggle with the walking simulator formula that most PSN games are designed around. I will get to God of War, but right now, I need to complete another street scene race in Horizon 4.
As for the rest of the library, I'm somehow still buying games! Steam had a board game sale, and I purchased games I already owned physically! I also picked up Deliver Us the Moon, Breathedge, and Colony Ship because I'm fixated on the emptiness of space right now. Oh, and I picked up Deathloop because I watched a time travel movie, and I now want to play paradoxical conundrums again.
Finally, Assassin's Creed Mirage showed up on Steam without fanfare! Ubisoft still hates Steam, for some reason, and delays all of their PC games because they hate money or get a thrill telling investors they are returning lower-than-expected profits. Seriously, Mirage, Prince of Persia, Avatar and Star Wars Outlaws are ALL on my waitlist. I'm not buying them on another platform or library. I tried diversifying my game collections in the past, but it was a pain to maintain. So I now have AC: Mirage. All I need is to set aside at least 60 hours to complete Valhalla, and I can then finally say I've finished all of the Assassin's Creed games (just in time for the next one to be released).
